THE ELECTROLYTES CONCENTRATION OF GASTRIC JUICE IN NORMAL HEALTHY KOREAN

Abstract
|
|
|
Gastric juice was collected from 47 systemically healthy Korean males without-a. story of gastro-intestinal disturbance between 21 and 36 years of age. Collections were performed about 9, 00 A. M, with all subjects in the fasting conditions.
Every effort was made to obtain, as nearly as possible, the unstimulated secretion of stomach. For all 47 subjects, the mean fasting volume was 38.5 -i- 18, 7m1 and in 30 subjects the flow rate of gastric juice during 15 minutes was 29.4 ~± 13.2 ml/15min, Total protein was 469 ± 125 mg/100m1.
Results of estimation of the electrolytes in 38 subjects under test were as follows: Sodium was 48.3 ± 14.4mEq/L, potassium 13.9 ± 2.7mEq/L, chloride 79,2 ± 16.0 mEq/L and total acid 24 ± 15 mEq /L.
